Choral Union LTD Presents Behold, There Was An Angel

A concert featuring Christmas music by Holst, Rutter, Respighi and Schreck

Choral Union will perform a selection of Christmas music including “Advent Motet” by Schreck, “Laud to the Nativity” by Respighi, “Christmas Day” by Holst, and “Gloria” by Rutter. Soloists, a woodwind choir, and a brass choir will be featured. Tickets are $15 at the door, or $12 in advance by calling 608-741-5074. Consider this the start of your holiday season!

Tickets are now available for “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff

Carmina Burana is a scenic cantata composed by Carl Orff in 1935 and 1936. It is based on 24 of the poems found in the medieval collection Carmina Burana. Its full Latin title is Carmina Burana: Cantiones profanæ cantoribus et choris cantandæ comitantibus instrumentis atque imaginibus magicis (“Songs of Beuern: Secular songs for singers and choruses to be sung together with instruments and magic images.”) Carmina Burana is part of Trionfi, the musical triptych that also includes the cantata Catulli Carmina and Trionfo di Afrodite. The first and last movements are called “Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi” and start with the very well known “O Fortuna“.

Janesville Choral Union LTD

In 1881 Milton Choral Union gave its first performance, singing a variety of selections under Professor N.W. Williams of the Milton College of Music. The concert was a great success and a tradition was born. Over the next 30 years Choral Union continued to give entertainment and concerts, although not always annually.  Learn More.
